About Venture South Management
Collateral Management, Warehousing and Logistics, from Kampala
Venture South Management Co. Ltd (VSM) delivers collateral management, logistics coordination, risk control, trade support and business advisory. We work with financial institutions, corporates, traders, SMEs and investors, and alongside importers, exporters, clearing agents, insurers, warehouse operators and aggregators. That range gives us direct familiarity with the counterparties and transaction flows a lender meets in trade and agricultural finance. Our team brings together bankers, credit managers, certified accountants, legal advisors and trained field inspectors who are present on every transaction.
VSM was incorporated in Uganda on 22 September 2022. We operate within the Venture South International Group, based in Versoix, near Geneva, Switzerland, a family of affiliated financial services companies serving East African and European markets. The group gives us cross-border expertise, shared governance standards and international relationships, while VSM Uganda keeps full legal and operational independence.

We recognise the risk our own staff can pose and control it through preventive and detective measures.
- Regular staff training: Teams stay current on procedure and standards.
- Spot audits: Unannounced audits deter and detect irregularities early.
- Policies and procedure manuals: Documented controls govern every operational step.
- Job rotation: Rotating duties removes single points of failure and concealment.
- Consequence management: Firm action against repeat offenders enforces accountability.

VSM’s three founding directors bring more than 60 years of combined experience in collateral management, commodity finance and banking.
Christian Baine
Director and Chief Executive Officer
Christian leads VSM’s strategy and its relationships with banks and partners. He has more than 25 years in collateral management and warehouse receipt finance. He was Regional Manager, Structured Trade Finance at Stanbic Bank, and Country Director at Collateral Management International and at ACE Global Depository. He has advised the Ministry of Trade on warehouse receipt systems and served as Technical Advisor to the Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority.
Stephen Kaye
Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer
Stephen runs VSM’s operations: service delivery, inspection, quality control and warehouse certification. He has more than 20 years in collateral and risk management. He was Risk Manager and Deputy Country Manager at ACE Global Depository, and Credit Support Officer at ACE-Audit Control and Expertise Uganda.
Michael Asiimwe
Executive Director and Chief Business Development Officer
Michael leads VSM’s work with banks: client acquisition, proposals, pricing and contract negotiation. He has more than 17 years in banking and financial services. At KCB Bank Uganda he was Credit Administration Manager, Collections and Recoveries Manager and Senior Credit Analyst, and he later served as Business Development Manager at Blue Crane Limited.
